Not recommended. What a dump! F1: The Movie may be the worst movie ever given a best picture nomination. Don’t let the director appellation fool you. This is a Jerry Bruckheimer (Con Air) movie, with all of his expected stupid cornball nonsense. First off, the script rips off a much better recent performance, Christian Bale, in Ford V. Ferrari, line by line. A 62, Pitt is still handsome – – and a talent – – but too absurdly old to play a Formula 1 driver. Of course, Pitt was a co-producer of this vanity piece. The plot of F1: The Movie also steals from Grand Prix, the season culminating in its final race. But the most egregious insult is showing a driver ejected from his car, flying through the air, landing in the burning wreck, and surviving to finish his season. That’s an insult to the many late drivers . . . who didn’t finish.
